Mac's Proposal to Felicia

Mac:  Ok, look, something’s been nagging at me for a while.  It’s one of those ideas that just gets into your head and doesn’t ever get out.  The way I see it, you and I know each other pretty well right now.  I mean you know all the good things about me, and the not so good things about me, which there aren’t many of those, and vice versa.  Well, I mean I think we could safely say that um, it’s pretty safe to assume that there wouldn’t be any surprises in that area.  Personality wise I mean, do you follow me?  Well what I’m saying is um, what you see is what you get.  Got it?

Felicia:  So?

Mac:  So, will you marry me? (Pause) Well?

Felicia:  Mac.

Mac:  What’s wrong?  Cat got your tongue?

Felicia:  No, I…

Mac:  Felicia, it’s simple.

Felicia:  Since when?

Mac:  Since right now.

Felicia:  I don’t…I…

Mac:  Shh, shh, shh, wait, wait, wait, ok, listen, listen, I understand I mean, look we’ve been avoiding this subject for a very long time and then bam there it is right out in the open.  And I know, I know if you’ve told me once you’ve told me a dozen times how it worries you about me making a commitment.  And yes, I’ve admitted that it does scare me a little bit.  But guess what?  It doesn’t scare me any more.  And you know why?  Because spending the rest of my life with you is just about the… no it’s not just about, it is the best thing I could ever possibly imagine.  (Felicia goes to say something.) Wait a minute, I know what you’re going to say, I know what you’re going to say, you’re going to say well Mac, you say this now but what about 5, 10, 15 years from now?  Well I’ve got an answer for that too.  I am absolutely certain that I want to spend forever with you.  Do you want to spend forever with me?

Felicia:  Mac, I can’t say “yes” right now.

Mac:  Why not?

Felicia:  Well, I have to think about it.

Mac:  Why?  I mean, I didn’t have to.

Felicia:  You thought about it before you asked me, it’s not fair.

Mac:  Ok, fine, I’ll give you that.  I mean, that’s half of the surprise of a proposal.  And the other half is when the woman says “yes.”  Hint, hint, hint.

Felicia:  I can’t say “yes” right now.

Mac:  You’re sure?

Felicia:  For now, yes.

Mac:  Well, ok then.

Felicia:  I’m sorry.

Mac:  Yeah, I’m sorry too, cause then it’s over with us Kitten.
