Charlotte's Encounter - I have attended the affair at Sportmen's for the past 12 years and have seen John many great times. He seems to remember that I'm from his other city of Chicago. I did live there, but for the past two years I've lived in L.A. John is so sweet to me. I'm 78 years young and enjoy G.H. as my favorite. I'm going again this year and hope to see John again. Bye now. The old lady loves you.

Mary's Encounter - I had the privilege to meet John last weekend at the Wolf Challenge charity auction. My husband played in the golf tournament. As we were sipping a cocktail, I saw John, not even knowing a GH actor was there!!! My jaw dropped and I addressed him as Mac Scorpio. He was a delight to talk to. He is a real person and the real deal. I will never forget that night.

Francine's Encounter - Met John at the 2001 GH fan event in Studio City. Had heard how really nice he was from my friend, Sally, who took acting lessons with him. I mentioned her name and he said she was his favorite Jewish girl. Now I have been seeing John MC other GH events and he lives up to his wonderful, sincere, funny reputation. We need more MAC.!!!!!

*****************************************

Lisa's Encounter - John was one of the sweetest guys I've met. I told him how a lot of people miss seeing him at Super Soap Weekend (SSW) and he said he misses coming. He said he enjoyed the couple of times he was invited and wished he would be invited again.

Tonya's Encounter - John really seems like one of the nicest, most gracious guys! I just met him last week (April 2005) standing in line for a cab at the Las Vegas Airport. I have watched GH since the Robert/Anna and Luke/Laura days, so it was an immediate recognition.

When we passed each other, I couldn't help but lean over and tell him what a huge fan I was. He smiled graciously and said thank you. I was excited enough over that encounter - it didn't occur to me that I would pass him again before either one of us got to the front of the lines. This time he actually stopped and asked me my name, shook my hand and introduced himself. I had thought he would maybe smile or nod if anything when he saw me again. I was so star struck that when he said "I'm John", all I could say was "Yeah!" (like - duh, I've only seen you every day for almost 15 years!)

Now for what I would have said if I'd had more time (or composure!). John - tell the writers that your fans want to see more of Mac! We want some juicy storylines - I'm sure they can find you a new love interest. And - thanks for turning what was going to be a boring business trip into a great memory of meeting one of my all time faves! Keep up the great work!

Brandon's Encounter - In June of 2003 my mom, dad, brother and I were on a flight from LAX to Maui and I was lucky enough to be sitting in the seat right next to Mr. York. My mom was also sitting by me in the same row as him. My mom told me who he was and I thought that was cool. He had hurt his thumb and had it propped up on a pillow so we didn't want to bother him too much. He passed my lunch meal to me and when I fell asleep on him he didn't get mad at all. My mom was trying to wake me up so that I wouldn't bother him but he was so awesome that he said it was okay. We talked during the five hour flight and he gave my mom and I an autograph and promised to send a picture of himself after his vacation and when we returned it was waiting at the post office for us. At the end of the flight he shook my dad's hand and told my brother that (yes, I really am an actor) then my brother gave him two thumbs up.

Lisa's Encounter - I have met John many times at various events and as always I really enjoyed meeting him at the 2004 GH Luncheon. He is so sweet and has the most incredible blue eyes. This particular luncheon was different than the others. There was a silent auction to have my picture appear in ABC Soaps in Depth with my favorite actor. The bids got high but I kept going and I finally won it with a bid of $520. My actor of choice was the one and only fantastic John J. York. Several pictures were taken-then he gave me such a big hug, I could hardly breathe. It was wonderful and memorable. I love you, John!!!!!

Joan's Encounter - I'm in a wheelchair and getting around and in the lines (at the 2003 GH Luncheon) was not easy and I was about ready to call it quits for the day. When I got up to him he came around and gave me the biggest hug that made my entire weekend and was worth the 4 1/2 hour flight to get out to LAX. I hope he realizes how such a simple gesture can make others feel so good. He is the nicest, sweetest man on GH. Thank God they had the brains to put him back on contract.

Patricia's Encounter - As always, John's was one of the consistently longest lines and he was charming. As I was coming up to the table, he showed his paternal side by reminding Robyn Richards that she had somewhere to be, then giving her a big hug & kiss. Lindze Letherman definitely won most fashionable in her black and white polka dot dress with what appeared to be a red crinoline. I'm already looking forward to next year!

Seajay's Encounter - Once again, I was delighted to spend a few minutes with John. He's such a sweetheart and so accessible to his fans. He's always got a smile on his face and spends as much time with you as you need, to tell him how much you like having him on the show, or to make a comment about his storyline. John is one of the class acts of the GH Fan Luncheon.

Shawn, Angel & Joshua's Encounter - We are just writing to let John J York fans know that we met him on our family vacation to Maui in June 2003. He was on the outbound plane to Maui with his wife, daughter and niece. My son, Joshua, met him on the plane and not even knowing who he was, started a conversation with him for a great length of time. It was not until our son came back to his seat did we tell him that he was talking to a famous actor. Joshua went back up to John and asked him to sign his new Harry Potter book. He graciously did and when we exited the plane, he posed for pictures with our son. Our son is currently working on writing a book and John took the time to give him pointers and told him "Write a part for me." John and his family were extremely pleasant and really made a nice, lasting impression on our family. We were really impressed of how he was just an everyday person with our son and us. He is a credit to his profession.

Sydney's Encounter - I met John tonight (02/09/03)!! I work at a retail store at Downtown Disney, and he came in with his family. Our eyes met, and it must have been totally obvious that I recognized him, because I broke out into the world's goofy-est smile. While I was in total shock seeing him there, he was so gracious and kind. He introduced himself to me, and even let me hug him!! Seeing him totally made my week, and I told him so--I only wish I had been more coherant so I could tell him what a wonderful actor he is, and how much I miss seeing him more frequently on GH. John, you honestly did make my night--heck, my month--and I'm still smiling thinking about it! You rock!

Susan's Encounters - The first time I met John was in the summer of 1994 when he was doing the CCFA Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser. This was also the first time I had ever attended any type of fan event so I had no idea what to expect. My husband went with me because he likes to bowl, though he doesn't watch GH. John had several other stars there for the event, including Jon Lindstrom (Kevin), Steve Burton (Jason) and Sean Kanan (then AJ). Even Michael Sutton (Stone) made an appearance. John made sure that he went to each lane and personally talked with us and posed for pictures. He was just so sweet, friendly and down to earth. Even my husband was impressed, and still notices John when he catches him on GH. I have followed GH since 1968 and I couldn't have asked for a better first time experience in meeting someone from the show. The funniest thing that happened during the event is that my husband won a raffle prize - a computerized hair style analysis at a local salon - only he had no hair then because he was going through chemotherapy (he is fine now). There were a lot of laughs when he went up to accept the prize, with his completely bald head. We also won a beautiful lunch at the Marina del Rey Ritz Carlton which we thoroughly enjoyed. This year's GH Fan Club weekend was the 2nd opportunity I had to meet John. I asked him to autograph a picture I had of him and then I showed him the pictures I had taken in 1994. He got a laugh out of them. I hadn't realized before just how funny John is - he had us in stitches at both Coltin's event and at Real's too. Also, I have to say that I think that in the 8 years since I first met him, John has aged like a very fine wine - he looks great, even better than he did in '94. I wish I could say the same for myself! I was disappointed when I developed my pictures and realized that while I took a lot of pictures of John I forgot to get a picture of me with him this time, but I will be sure I get one (or more) the next time, because John will be at the top of my list of people I want to meet again! John, you are the complete package - friendly, big-hearted, funny, and sexy! Hopefully I'll see you again - same time next year - and in the meantime I hope to see a lot more of you on GH.

Patricia's Encounter - I had the pleasure of again meeting John at the 2002 GH Fan Club weekend. Not only was he kind enough to pose for a photo, he also gave me a wonderful sound bite for my local radio station. As always, he was charming and funny - the perfect gentleman!

Sandra's Encounter - My girlfriend and I found out he was going to be at G.O. Fitz in Orland Park, Illinois. When we got there, there were so many women there and we got to talk to him and take pictures with him. His mother and brother were there and we got to dance with his brother. He was so nice to us, talking and answering questions, and we brought our cameras so we got extra pictures of all three of us. Thanks John for being so nice to us and introducing us to your family.

Carrie's Encounter - Several years ago, my girlfriend and I attended a Soap Opera Weekend with the Stars in the Baltimore, MD area to benefit the Children's Cancer Society. I was SO excited to go because both John AND Brad Maule, my two favorite guys, were going to be there. I had brought along a large poster of Brad that I was hoping he would sign for me but when we arrived we found out that Brad had taken ill and would not be there for the luncheon. Disappointed as I was, I decided I would get up the nerve and ask John if he would auction it off for me as an extra item and he could NOT have been more nicer about it! He did, in fact, did such a good job, he raised over $250 for the Foundation and I couldn't have been more thrilled! Later, after speaking with the chairman of the luncheon, I found out that John had said he would be more than happy to get the poster to Brad who had gone back to his hotel room and have him sign it and I thought that was SO sweet of John to do that for the winner! After lunch, we got to have our pictures taken with the stars and I, of course, chose John and thanked him profusely for what he did about getting the poster auctioned off for me and he said he was thrilled to help and I got to get a tape I had of Daytime's Super Hunks autographed by John and got to take several pictures with him. What a dreamboat he is and SUCH a wonderful guy - John you are TRULY #1 in my book!

Lucy's Encounter - I met John J. York when I was 16, in November of 1996. I heard that he was going to be at the Miramar Factory Outlet Center in Champlain, NY, so I begged my mother to drive me there to see him (we live in Montreal)! I'd been watching him on GH since I was 9 years old, and he was always my favorite. I showed up with a book full of pictures of him, and I probably went up and met him maybe 4 times (I'd just go back and wait in line again). By the end of the day, he had signed almost every one of my photos of him! I was just about to leave, when suddenly he called me over. He asked me for my address. I was completely shocked! He said that he wanted to send me something special from LA. I gave him my address and he smiled and said that he would not forget, then he walked over to me and gave me a big hug. Two weeks later, I received a poster in the mail. It was a huge photo of John and he had written me a sweet message on it. Then a week later, I received a parcel from him! Inside was a letter, a script signed by 14 GH actors, and 18 black and white photographs of GH actors and he'd had them each write me a personal message on them! I carried that parcel around with me everywhere, and I told my 'John J. York' story to everyone!! Three years later I was telling someone my story, when my mom cut in and said that she had something to tell me. It turns out that when I had left the Miromar Outlet for a few minutes that day in 1996, she had gone and spoken to John herself. She wanted to thank him. My dad had been killed in a freak-accident just 2 months prior, and she told John that this was the first time she had seen her daughter (me!) smile since the accident. She told him that she had never seen me this happy, and she thanked him for being so kind to me. My mom was worried that I would be embarrassed (being a stubborn teenager full of pride!) so she waited a few years to tell me. I now respect John more than ever. That care package he sent me lifted my spirits and it got me to stop crying and start smiling again :)

Steve's Encounter - I remember first meeting John J. York when they filmed the show Werewolf down the street at my friend's house. At that time they were filming the Halloween episode. John's trailer was parked in front of my house. He was the first celebrity I ever met. He gave me and my family an autograph. They filmed the show for about a week and a half, so I actually got to know John and his wife a little more when I got a chance to talk to him between takes. He even started calling me by my name...I thought that was sooo cool!

To this day I still have a hard time telling friends that they filmed Werewolf on my street and that his trailer was parked in front of my house. (How often does that happen?) I know a lot of people have forgotten about the show, but thanks to John I still remember it to this day!

Note: The house where they filmed the Werewolf Halloween episode, was also the same house where they filmed other movies like Scream 2, Matilda and Life starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Larwence.

Amber's Encounters - I have two stories about Mr. York. A few years ago my friend won tickets to the GH 35th anniversary party. We went and had a great time. The few stars that were there were very nice but you could tell they were working. On the way to the parking lot my friend and I spotted Mr. York and Mr. Andrews. We waved, I just expected them to wave back and keep walking. To my surprise they both came over and talked to us for about 20 minutes then went back to their dressing rooms to get pics for us which they signed, it was awesome.

My other story took place this year at the GHFCW. I was at Mr. Andrews event and was overcome with tears when I tried to express my gratitude to Mr.'s York, Andrews and Brannon for their generosity toward me at previous encounters including the one above. Instead of making me feel foolish, Mr. York led the others in giving me hugs and Mr. York asked me if I was going to the Luncheon the next day. When I told him I could not afford it he said he'd arrange for me to go as his guest. Foolishly I did not attend because I didn't feel right since the money for all the events went to charity. I will never forget the generosity in his offer though, that weekend was the most wanted I've ever felt.

*****************************************

Ranae's Encounter - I never met him but, my husband knew him. My husband and John were on the same football team back in HS. My husband was waiting for me in the hospital waiting room while I was undergoing a ultrasound during my pregnancy, he was watching GH on the tv and when I came out of the exam room, he said, I think I saw someone I used to play football with in HS. He knew right away, John's name, I was impressed! Since then, John has sent us an autographed photo stating...go Crusaders!

*****************************************

Patti's Encounter - I met John today (9/3/01) at the Fuzzy Zoeller Wolf Challenge and have to say he was the NICEST celebrity there. He went out of his way to talk with us and thank us for coming. At one point, he was way across the putting green and when he saw I wanted his autograph, he came over immediately. I was so nervous, I forgot to take his picture! Oh well, maybe next year.

*****************************************

Theresa's Encounter - I met John at Fuzzy Zoeller's 1999 Wolf Challenge. I was volunteering my time for the local hospital that was in charge of their first aide for the event. He was very gracious and very funny. I have wonderful memories of meeting all the 'celebrities', but meeting John was a pleasure. I am not a big fan of soap operas because I work Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, but I have to admit, after meeting him I had to watch GH. He truly made that a fun time. Every time we would stop so they could putt (or whatever golfer's do) we would give them water or a soda. Thank you John for making that such a pleasant experience.

*****************************************

Tara's Encounter - I am from Tinley Park, Illinois, where John is from. His sister attends the same church I do. Usually when he is in town, he attends a mass. I was in seventh grade when I saw him at mass one day. He was very kind even though I was so starstruck I didn't know what to say! He was kind enough to give me an autograph! I also met him a few years later at one of his appearances at a mall. I went to Planet Hollywood and he stopped eating his lunch to take a picture and talk for a few minutes.

*****************************************

Jessica's Encounter - My mom and I have attended the GH fan weekend for 10 years now. Back in 1995, we were lucky enough to win a studio tour through the raffle. The tour was with Brad Maule. When we got there, Brad had to work that day so he wasn't able to do a lot with us. John saw us and came right over to us after he filmed his scenes and told us that when we were done to come to his dressing room and he'd give us something. He gave us a signed poster and we got to see his dressing room. It was really exciting. That day was also Ricky Martin's final taping day so we got to see him as well. The scenes were intense that day since Miguel was leaving town and Stone was in the hospital getting ready to die. It was such a blast and I thank John for brightening our day at the studio.

Gayla's Encounter - I finally got to meet John at the 2001 GH Fan Club Weekend. He attended Real's event and I could tell right away that he was something special. He was gracious to everyone in attendance and made sure to make everyone feel important. When it came time for the Meet & Greet with the fans, many of the actors had other commitments and had to leave, but NOT John, he along with Scott Egan (Johnny), stayed and signed autographs & posed for pictures. John made sure to let everyone know that he would stay until everyone who wanted to meet him got the chance to. How AWESOME is that?! When it was my turn to meet him, he smiled and said hello. I had a unique sign that John took special interest in. It is a GH FAN PARKING ONLY sign, and he asked me where I got it, I answered "off ebay of course" and he laughed as he signed it! What an absolute joy & thrill it was for me to meet John as I have watched him on GH since he started, and I will not forget his kindness & friendliness to everyone he encountered!
